24 June 1940. After having wandered aimlessly, Daniel and his family come back to Villeneuve. As doctor and deputy mayor of the village, he is considered by the Germans as being solely responsible for the refugees packed into the church. While Daniel organises aid with the help of Jean Marchetti, a young police officer, Raymond tries to find Marie, whom he has not heard from for a week...
